Today it struck me that I wanted to begin keeping a record of our backyard, the Atlantic Ocean on this South Florida beach we call home. Me and my little family have gone to our favorite spot - taking a pathway through the trees and then the dunes to the wide open shore - almost every day (except during thunder storms) since we first moved here over two years ago. My son, T. OCEAN, had just turned 1 year old. Each day brings a new tide, a new wave or creature - each day unique.
It’s been well over a month since oil has been gushing into the Gulf of Mexico non-stop with no end in sight. It may be a matter of time before the oil will make its way to this Florida beach. So as an outlet for my desire to hold close what is dear to me and my family, this is my own personal chronicle - a daily record of sorts - of our neighborhood beach.
